More than a Basic Sunset
Oil Patel 2020 Art Studio When I started this semester I wanted to work with a material I hadn't worked with before and I was watching videos about oil pastel pieces. That is how I got started on this idea. Because oil pastels were a material I had never worked with before, I wanted something easy but it also had a little bit of a challenge to it. I wanted to do a sunset, but make it a little more complicated. I wanted to do my piece like this even before Mrs. Singleton said, "Don't make a basic white girl sunset. In the piece, I wanted to portray a calm/relaxing and romantic feeling. I wanted this mainly because I thought if i made the piece feel like this, I would feel like this while making it and I wouldn't get stressed out as much during the creation like I do with other projects. It worked. The romantic feeling was just a little extra splash of emotion to add to the setting. I also made this piece because I find sunsets calming and sunrises exciting. |
